Because the move is where a smooth sale can still turn chaotic. A week-by-week countdown keeps utilities, movers, and records from all landing on the final weekend — the stretch where things actually unravel.

Utility transfer dates and school records. Both have lead times, and scrambling for them in move week causes real disruption — lock the transfers (PSE, city, internet) and request records early.

About 6–8 weeks out, along with decluttering and notifying schools. Good movers book up, so reserving early protects your date and gives you leverage on price versus a last-minute scramble.

Confirming movers, packing non-essentials labeled by room, a kid and pet plan, an essentials box, the final walkthrough, meter photos, and the key handoff. A defined move-week list prevents the last-minute chaos.

About 3–4 weeks out, along with the address change. Aligning transfers to your possession date avoids arriving to a home without power or internet, or paying for overlap you don't need.
